Bring on the New Year
Bring on the New
Year!
It is
official, the crazy year of 2020 has come to an end… now what? Well first let’s
take a second to reflect on the past 365 days… While the first two months of
the year might have seemed “normal”, nobody could have predicted what the next
ten months would bring us. 2020 has brought everyone around the world an
abundance of anxiety, stress, uncertainty, anger, confusion, and a flat-out
weird feeling to say the least. But while it seemed like the world was crashing
down around us, we also must acknowledge all of the amazing and beautiful
lessons and moments that 2020 gifted us with. With all of the sudden change
going around us, we all learned to become extremely adaptable to the constantly
changing environment. But it was in those moments of change and
unpredictability that we all learned to appreciate the little things in our
lives and how to truly face fear head on one day at a time.
But here
we are at the start of a fresh new year, the beginning of a new journey, what
are we going to do to make this year the best year of our lives? With all the
tragedy of 2020 we are all truly blessed to have made it to see Jan 1st,
2021 because nobody is ever promised another day. But let’s be honest with
ourselves… just because the calendar is changing are you going to change too?
What makes December 31st any different than January 1st…
mindset. We have to make the conscious decision every single day to make
ourselves better than the last. Growth and success are not fate, yet a choice that
you make to work hard at your goals daily.
Talk is
cheap. It almost seems like a society norm to create New Years Resolutions year
after year but why is it that less than 8 percent actually follow through with
their goals that they set to better themselves? I believe that at the end of
the day it comes down to accountability and convenience. There are a million
excuses that we can tell ourselves on why not, but we only need one good reason
to do it. Coming up with goals are easy “I want to eat better” or “I am going
to go to the gym 4 days a week” but what is the point if these “goals” if they only
last a week or two?
We need to dig deep within
ourselves to find the real reason of goal setting, the why. In my opinion your
reason why is the most important part of setting these goals. Is there
something that you what to subconsciously change about yourself or simply stive
for something new or better. You need to find the drive and passion behind
goals or dreams to dig for that motivation. Because at the end of the day
nobody will do it for you, it must come from within and the passion that you
have to accomplish your goals. Everyday is a gift from God and it is up to you
what you do with the 24 hours of the day, and you will never know when your
time is up. If not today, then when?
But now 2021 is here it is up to
us to look at today, tomorrow, next week, or 6 months and think where do we
want to be and how are we going to get there. It is up to YOU to make that
decision every day. But we must remember
success doesn’t come overnight or without consistent failure and even “life
getting in the way” but we can take what we learned in 2020 and the years prior
to know that we have become stronger and resilient to not just face life, but
to dominate it.
Thank you 2020 for all the
memories and lessons. Porrada 2021!
